Vision Statement

Indianola thirty years hence can be a place where beautiful parks are evidence of great community pride; where the built and natural environments coexists in harmony and natural balance; where gracious parks and open spaces enrich every neighborhood; where each park has a focal point unique to its section of town or the entire community; where tree-lined streets are not only lovely to look at but good places to live and travel, whether on foot, in a car, or on a bike; where parks and trails bond neighborhoods together in the continuous fabric of a united and progressive community.

Indianola can also be a place where there is modern, well-maintained indoor and outdoor recreation facilities where a wide variety of recreation program opportunities are taking place to enhance the physical, social and mental well-being of citizens of all ages and segments in the community.

Sincere Appreciation

A great big thank you goes to the Indianola Community Schools for city recreation use of the school facilities. The extra time and energy from secretaries, custodians, teachers and principals are greatly appreciated. The public use of Cowles Pool on the Simpson College campus is also a very important facet of the recreation program. Thank you to all who make it happen. Also we salute the businesses and organizations who co-sponsor programs this winter – Dairy Queen, Extension Service, American Red Cross, Simpson Theatre, Indianola Lanes, Paramount Theater.

Call 961-9420 – Punch #1 for a staff directory, #2 for park information, and #3 for recreation programs and activities. Registration Deadlines

Deadlines are used as a tool to determine whether there is enough interest in a class/activity to invest time and money. If a class minimum isn’t met by the deadline, the activity may be canceled.

Does missing the deadline mean I can’t get into the class? In most cases, except sports leagues, participants will still be able to register for an activity until the class is filled. Missing a deadline doesn’t always mean you have to miss the activity.

But early registration guarantees you and your family members a spot in your favorite activities as some classes fill before the deadline.
