Kielkopf keeps city accountable
Todd Kielkopf, city clerk, is the man behind the numbers for the City of Indianola.
On the job just short of a year - he started in September 1999 Kielkopfs behind-the-scenes responsibilities include being the chief accounting officer for the City and Indianola Municipal Utilities. That includes overseeing the maintenance of both the City and IMUs records, accounts payable, utility billing and payroll functions. Kielkopf doesnt have a lot of contact with the general public, but he is the man to ask when there are financial questions about special assessments, tap fees and ordinances.
The variety of the job is what Kielkopf enjoys the most about working for the city. With a city this size, youre involved in almost every aspect, he said.
He and his wife Ann have two daughters, Kate, 2 ½, and JoElle, 1. They moved up from Columbia, Mo., where Kielkopf was Head of Financial Services for the Daniel Boone Regional Library System. Both from Iowa, Hedrick and Monona respectively, the move brought them a little closer to home. It also brought them a lot closer to the neighborly atmosphere they both were used to while growing up in Iowa.
Columbia was bigger and had a distant, different feel. Here, you really get to know your neighbors, Kielkopf said.
