Shelter Reservations

Park shelter reservations will be taken beginning January 1 for the current year on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reservation time periods: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., 2:00-6:00 p.m., and 6:00-10:00 p.m. 

Fee Schedule: 4 hours: residents $15, nonresidents $18.75; 8 hours: residents $20, nonresidents $25.00; 12 hours: $25, nonresidents $30.

Shelters available for reservation are located in Barker Park, McCord Park, Memorial Park, Moats Park, and Pickard Park.

Sand Volleyball Court

Reservations for the McCord Park Sand Volleyball Court will be taken starting the first working day after January 1 of each year on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Reservation time periods: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., 2:00-6:00 p.m., and 6:00-10:00 p.m. 

Fee Schedule: 4 hours: residents $10, nonresidents $12.50; 8 hours: residents $15, nonresidents $18.75; 12 hours: residents $20, nonresidents $25. There will be no charge if reserved with a McCord Park Shelter reservation.

Rotary Amphitheater

The Indianola Rotary Club developed the amphitheater in Memorial Park that includes a 40 x 37 stage and seating area for 300-350 people. Groups may reserve the amphitheater on a first-come, first-served basis starting the first working day after January 1 of each year. Call 961-9420 or come to the Parks and Recreation Office for more information or to reserve. 

Reservation time periods: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., 2:00-6:00 p.m., 6:00-10:00 p.m. 

Fee Schedule: 4 hours: residents $5, nonresidents $6.25; 8 hours: residents $10, nonresidents $12.50; 12 hours: residents $15, nonresidents $18.75.

Room Rentals

Buxton Multi-Purpose Room and Kitchen
288 person capacity
Available: Monday-Friday 5:15 p.m. to 12 midnight; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 midnight
Residents $10, nonresidents $10 per hour for preparation and setup-cleanup time as determined by the renter
Residents $30, nonresidents $33 per hour for actual activity time for groups of 50 or less
Residents $40, nonresidents $43 per hour for actual activity time for groups of 51-99
Residents $45, nonresidents $48 per hour for actual activity time for groups of 100 or more

Shull Conference Room and Arts/Crafts Rooms
20 person capacity
Available: Monday-Friday 5:15 p.m. to 12 midnight; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 midnight
Youth groups and nonprofit groups:  Residents: $10 for up to 2 hours, $5 for each additional hour. Nonresidents: $13 for up to 2 hours, $8 for each additional hour.
Seminars and profit groups:  Residents: $20 for up to 2 hours, $10 for each additional hour. Nonresidents: $23 for up to 2 hours, $13 for each additional hour.

Community Room

The Community Room located at City Hall, 110 North First, is available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. The room is equipped with folding tables and chairs and a small kitchenette. Reservations can be made no more than three months in advance. Call Diana at Indianola City Hall at 961-9410 to reserve your time. 

For family, religious, nonprofit organization, political, philosophical, brotherhood/sisterhood functions: Weekdays: $25 for up to 4 hours and $4 for each additional hour (nonresident: $30/4 hrs. & $6 each additional hr.) plus $50 damage deposit. Weekends (Saturday & Sunday): $40 for up to four (4) hours and $4 for each additional hour (nonresident: $45/4 hrs. & $6 each additional hr.) plus $50 damage deposit. 

For financial benefit functions: Weekdays: $45 for up to four (4) hours and $5 for each additional hour (nonresident: $55/4 hrs. & $6 each additional hr.) plus $50 damage deposit. Weekends (Saturday & Sunday): $60 for up to four (4) hours and $5 for each additional hour (nonresident: $70/4 hrs. and $6 each additional hr.) plus $50 damage deposit.

Santa Suit Rental

Need a Santa Suit for that special party or occasion? Advance reservations are taken over the phone. The rental fee is $15 with a $25 deposit. Checkout times are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:20 a.m. the following day. A checkout Friday afternoon will be good until 9:20 a.m. on Monday.

BBQ Grill Rental

The sharp trailer mounted BBQ Grill features: 2 x 6 charcoal grill, shade roof, storage area, serving counter, and cooking utensils. The grill is available for a rental fee of $33 for free food off the grill or $48 for food sold off grill with an additional $50 deposit. Call 961-9420 to reserve the grill for your special event.

Buxton Park Gazebo

Reservations for the Buxton Park Gazebo will be taken starting the first working day after January 1 of each year on a first-come, first-served basis. The Gazebo can be reserved for a $20 fee with a $25 damage deposit. Call 961-9420 or come to the Parks and Recreation Office to reserve the Gazebo for that special occasion.

Vegetable Garden Plots

The Parks & Recreation Department offers gardening plots to Indianola residents for lease to grow vegetable at Pickard Park.  Plots may be reserved on a a first-come, first-served basis beginning the first working day after January 1st.  Lease Period: March 1-October 15. Fees are: Full Plot (20' x 40') = $25, Half Plot (20' x 20') = $15.  Water is available near the garden plots. Plots will be tilled each year.
