Tree Trimming

The Indianola Community Development department is working on removing limbs from trees that were damage by the ice storm and in the public right of way. Trees that are tagged with pink ribbon are within the public right of way and damage limbs will be removed by the city. Trees with green ribbon are on private property and will be the owners responsibility for removal of the damage limbs that overhang the public sidewalk or street.

Emerald Ash Borer Seminar

Do you have ash trees?
If so, this FREE seminar is for you.

Thursday, March 6 starting at 7:00 p.m.
Indianola Activity Center
2204 W. 2nd Avenue (Hwy 92 W)
Indianola, Iowa 50125

At this FREE public information seminar,
you will learn:

• What is Emerald Ash Borer?
• How do I recognize it?
• How does the Emerald Ash Borer affect me?
• How do I dispose of the ash tree?
• What other species of trees should I be
planting?
• What do I have to do with my ash trees?
• How will the Emerald Ash Borer affect my community?

The Indianola Tree Committee is extending this invitation to you, the public and homeowner, to come to an Emerald Ash Borer Seminar.

This program will provide you with critical information about the Emerald Ash Borer, which is only 80 miles away from the eastern border of Iowa. It is anticipated that this exotic pest will move westward and destroy all ash trees in its path.

Dr. Mark Shour, Extension Entomologist with the Pest Management & Environment Program at Iowa State University, will be the featured speaker.

One way scientists are looking for this exotic pest is removal of declining ash trees and bark peeling the tree to see if EAB is present. A demonstration of bark peeling will be at the end of the presentation.

The seminar is FREE, however to accommodate everyone we request that you register by calling Indianola Parks & Recreation at (515) 961-9420.

Questions? Call Darla Kay Kickbush, (515) 961-5456

Hosted by The Indianola Tree Committee & Indianola Parks & Recreation. Sponsored by Iowa State University Extension.
