Children ages 5 and under, along with an adult, can have some fun together splashing around the small pool at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center.
Slip down the slide, scurry through the sand play area or tinker with our Gadgets & Gizmos water feature!
Fee: $1.50 per person including adults (Season Pass does not apply to this program). Accompanying adult must be 16 years of age or older and supervising no more than two children.
Children 6-15 will not be admitted.

Last chance this summer for you and your friends to hang out at the Aquatic Center at a great party just for teens entering Middle School & High School in the fall.
We'll have the "Iron Man" giant inflatable obstacle course for you to conquer, as well as games, music, prizes & food. Such a deal!
Fee $4.00 at the gate. Season Pass does not include admission to pool parties.

Friday Night Family Float at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center

Bring the family to the Aquatic Center and float your cares away. Rafts, inner tubes, noodles and other flotation devices will be allowed during this time. All children must be accompanied by an adult, since this is a time set aside especially for families.
Buy one admission, get the second admission free!
Age 2 & under free with paid adult admission
Age 3 & up: $3.25 Resident, $3.75 Nonresident

Fall Adopt-a-Tree Program
Indianola residents may register to adopt one or two $40 - $60 trees through the Resident Adopt-A-Tree program for only $20 each. The tree must be planted in a residential yard within the Indianola city limits. The resident may plant the tree themselves, or have the tree planted for them. There is an additional fee for staking and mulching. The resident agrees to properly water and care for the tree for the life of the tree. Forty trees are being made available for this program through Indianola Parks and Recreation and the Indianola Community Tree Committee.

Cardboard Boat Races

Ahoy, Mates! Bring your own cardboard boat to the pool and test your skills as a boat Captain!
Thanks to CanoeSport Outfitters, we will provide the paddles, while you design and build your own boat made out of CARDBOARD and DUCT TAPE ONLY. For the safety of the pool and participants, no other items will be allowed in the construction of a boat.
We will have singles and team races in the following age groups: 10 Years & under, 11-15 years, and 16 years & up. We will also have a family race which will require at least one child and at least one adult in the boat.

Stay for the outdoor movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (rated PG-13) immediately following the boat races.

After Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center has closed for the season, dogs and their owners can celebrate the end of sumer together at this pooch pool party. A portion of the evening's proceeds will go to the Kiya Koda Humane Society and Indianola Off Leash Dog Playground.
Fee is $7.50 per dog & owner, or $6.00 with Resident discount. Owner must be at least 16 years old unless accompanied by an adult.

Deadline to Register for Native American Celebration Day Trip
Adults 55 or older can travel to Earlham, Iowa, on Saturday, September 6, to see Native Americans from seven states and Canada participate as presenters in this celebration that recognizes Native American traditions through music, dance tradition, spirituality, intertribal drumming and more. Arrive at the Indianola Activity Center at 10:20 a.m. We will depart for Earlham at 10:45 a.m. and arrive at noon. The grand entry will begin at 1:00 p.m. We will depart Earlham at 6:00 p.m. to be back at the Center by 7:00 p.m. You will only need to bring along food money. Registration Deadline for Youth Flag Football League
Are you ready for some Football? Get ready for this modified flag football league. This is a non-contact league played on a short field with 5 players from each team on the field. Each player is eligible to catch a pass and there is no blocking. It is a fast paced game where everyone can be involved in each play.
Teams will practice 2 times per week before games begin. Coaches will schedule their practices. Games begin Tuesday, September 23 and will last till late October. Fee includes team t-shirt and mouthpiece.
