Snow Emergency Ordinance
City ordinance 1015 prohibits parking on
any public street or alley
during a snow emergency parking ban.
Please note that this ordinance was
amended in 2004 and
the fine has increased to $35 per occurrence.
Such ban is in effect when two or more inches
of snow or ice has fallen or is predicted by the National
Weather Service. Ban shall continue for the duration of the storm and
for at least forty-eight hours past the end of the storm or until streets are fully opened
after plowing.

If your vehicle is in
violation of the
snow emergency parking ban,
you will be subject to a $35.00
parking ticket and/or
your
vehicle may be towed at your expense.

*Payment of ticket is due 10 days
from the date of issuance. If towed, towing fees and any
impound fees is required to have the vehicle released to the owner.
Snow emergency parking ban will be posted on
the government access cable channel 7, this web site, announced on area TV and
radio news stations, or can be confirmed anytime by contacting the Indianola
Police Department at 961-9400.
